  Η έμπνευσή για το παρακάτω project ήταν η δομή του ανθρωπίνου σώματος, που ενώ δεν φαίνεται μας κρατάει όρθιους έναντι της βαρύτητας και των άλλων δυνάμεων που ασκούνται πάνω μας. Οι φόρμες των οστών του ανθρωπίνου σώματος με οδήγησαν στους σχεδιαστικούς πειραματισμούς για την εύρεση της φόρμας του pavilion. 

     Ακολουθώντας την ανθρώπινη κλίμακα οι αρχικές σκέψεις ήταν για μια δομή που δεν θα εκτείνεται σε ύψος αλλά θα έχει μια γραμμική προσέγγιση στη φόρμα. Η τελική σχεδιαστική πρόταση έχει τις ίδιες αναφορές στη δομή του ανθρωπίνου σώματος. 

     Οι αναφορές για την μέθοδο κατασκευής του παβίλιον έχουν ως πρότυπο το Frsh pavilion που κατασκευάστηκε στα πλαίσια ενός εντατικού φοιτητικού εργαστηρίου στο Tsinghua University στην Κίνα. 

     Στο Circulation Diagram φαίνονται οι αναμενόμενες ροές κίνησης από τα δύο κτίρια της αρχιτεκτονικής σχολής, αυτό των προπτυχιακών και αυτό των μεταπτυχιακών προγραμμάτων προς τον εξωτερικό χώρο. Το παβίλιον προσπαθεί να αποτελέσει μια δεύτερη επιδερμίδα σκίασης για τους χρήστες του κτιρίου των μεταπτυχιακών και να δεχθεί τις ροές από το αμφιθέατρο και την κύρια είσοδο του κτιρίου. Την ίδια στιγμή αποτελεί συμπληρωματική σκίαση στο μεγάλο δέντρο της πίσω αυλής του ΑΠΘ. 

     Από την παρουσία στον χώρο και μια προσεγγιστική μέθοδο υπολογισμού της σκίασης στο Rhino το παβίλιον φαίνεται να παίζει τον ρόλο του σκιάστρου τις κρίσιμες εποχές του χρόνου.  

Η συνολική επιφάνεια του υλικού allubond στην τελική μου πρόταση είναι 52 τετραγωνικά μέτρα.  Η φόρμα του παβίλιον έχει σχεδιαστική σχέση με τις ενδιαφέρουσες καμπύλες του κτιρίου των μεταπτυχιακών και επαναοριοθετεί τον χώρο γύρω από αυτό και το κυκλικό παγκάκι. Η τοποθέτησή του παβίλιον με τα κύρια ανοίγματά του βορειοανατολικά εξασφαλίζει τη κυκλοφορία του αέρα του θερινούς μήνες και δημιουργεί σκιά για τους χρήστες.  Το παβίλιον σχεδιαστικά σπάει την αρτιότητα του κυκλικού στοιχείου της πίσω αυλής διατηρώντας όμως τη χωρική σχέση με αυτό το κυκλικό στοιχείο σύμφωνα με τη διάταξη των ανοιγμάτων του.

Project: Academical Pavilion

      The inspiration was the structure of the human body, which while not visible keeps us upright against gravity and other forces exerted on us. The bone shapes of the human body led me to design experiments to find the shape of the pavilion. 

     Following the human scale the initial thoughts were for a structure that would not extend in height but would have a linear approach to form. The final design proposal “Break the circle” has the same references to the structure of the human body. 

     References to the pavilion construction method are modeled on the Frsh pavilion built as part of an intensive student workshop at Tsinghua University in China.  The Circulation Diagram shows the expected traffic flows from the two buildings of the School of Architecture, that of the undergraduate and that of the postgraduate programs to the outside space. The pavilion tries to be a second shading skin for the users of the postgraduate building and to accept the flows from the amphitheater and the main entrance of the building. At the same time it is an additional shade to the large tree in the backyard of the auth. 

     From the presence in the area and an approximate method of calculating the shading in Rhino the pavilion seems to play the role of the shader at critical times of the year. The total area of ​​the allubond material in my final proposal is 52 square meters. The form of the pavilion has a design relation with the interesting curves of the postgraduate building and redefines the space around it and the circular bench. The placement of the pavilion with its main openings to the northeast ensures air circulation during the summer months and creates shade for users.  The pavilion design breaks the perfection of the circular element of the backyard, while maintaining the spatial relationship with this circular element according to the arrangement of its openings.
